ATV Tours on Kauai

Kipu Ranch is a 3,000 acre property extending from the Huleia River to the top of Mt. Haupu. This mountain range is the one you see to the south of side of the highway as you leave Lihue headed toward Poipu or Waimea. Many movies have been filmed in part on the ranch, and your tour will include a chance to swing on the very rope swing that Indiana Jones used in "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Kipu Ranch is the highest recommended ATV tour on Kauai by Kauai Revealed: The Ultimate Guidebook. Two different tours are offered.

The 3 hour Mountain Adventure crosses ranch land and heads to the overlook at top of the mountain pass ... from here you get a glimpse of the south shore of Kauai that few visitors ever get to see. Of course you are likely to see cattle on this working ranch, but you may also see wild turkeys, boar, pheasant, and Nene (the state bird of Hawaii). This tour includes snacks and beverages. This tour may be shorter than the waterfall tour, but it includes some more difficult terrain. If you are an experienced rider this is probably the best choice for you.

On the 4 hour Waterfalls Adventure you explore more of the ranch ... the terrain ranges from cool forest roads, lush green pastures, and mountainside trails. You'll see two different waterfalls during the tour, and a picnic lunch is included. This tour starts with some easy cruising, followed by a lesson in ATV riding on a more challenging trail, the Indiana Jones rope swing, picnic at a waterfall, more riding, and a final waterfall stop where you can swim. 

Kipu Ranch ATV features comfortable and easy-to-ride automatic transmission Honda Rancher ATV's. The minimum age to drive an ATV is 16. Long pants are recommended, and closed toed shoes are required.

There are TWO options for children ages 5-15 to ride along. The cost is $70 on the mountain tour and $90 on waterfall tour. (increasing to $72 and $95 for tours on 12/1/2007 or later)..

1) They can be a passenger on an ATV driven by the guide ... this vehicle is called a MULE and has a rear seat that will hold up to 3 children.

2) They can be a passenger on a two or four seat ATV driven by one of their parents ... this vehicle is called a RHINO.

Of the two options we think that the Rhino is more enjoyable for the kids, and that's what we will reserve for you. If the Rhino vehicles aren't available for your tour, then we'll book them as passengers on the Mule.

CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS

The Kipu Ranch ATV tours are available for cruise ship passengers and require either a rental car or a short cab ride of 5-7 minutes. It is possible for NCL passengers who are spending the night on Kauai to do either an afternoon tour on their first day in port or a morning tour on their second day in port. 

ACTIVITY TIPS

ATV tours do not require previous experience, and these vehicles are really easy to operate. 5 minutes on one and most people are zipping around without a care. There is no shifting to worry about, and you'll be amazed at how stable these vehicles are. Kipu Ranch offers tours that really do provide a great experience for everyone, regardless of your riding experience.  

Yes, ATV tours are expensive ... and I can tell you why. I've been in the garages of all of these ATV tours and I can tell you that a great deal of time and expense is involved with properly maintaining these machines. Your tour will also include a very low guest-to-guide ratio with a guide in the front and the back of your group (and typically a maximum of 8 riders in between). 

ATV Tour Reservations

Upon submitting your activity reservation for processing, we will make reservations for you and send an e-mail confirming all of the details. These confirmations are often sent a few minutes after your reservation, but some activities take longer to confirm than others. You will receive an e-mail confirmation by the end of the next business day at the latest. There are no tickets that you need to pick up prior to your event. Your e-mail confirmation will have all the details you need to check in and enjoy your selected activity. This saves you precious time when you arrive in Hawaii. 

Please be sure that you have typed your email address perfectly; an incorrect address will prevent you from getting your confirmation details, and we will have no way of knowing that you never received your confirmation. We cannot be responsible for errors that clients make which causes them to miss their tour. If you do not see your email confirmation within 24 hours please call us right away to check on the status of your order.

A credit card is required to guarantee payment for your reservations, but the activities on this page ARE NOT CHARGED when your order is placed. These activities are operated by vendors who charge you at the time of check-in for your activity. Adventureinhawaii.com will provide this vendor with your billing information so that your space is reserved. Even though your credit card is not charged in advance, it is import to realize that you are making a confirmed reservation. No-shows will be charged in full by the activity provider on the credit card used to secure the reservation .

After making reservations, you may reschedule or cancel your activity up until 48 hours prior to its start (a few activities have 72 hour cancellation policies ... see your confirmation e-mail for details). Within 48 hours of the start of your activity all reservations are final and non-refundable (unless the event is cancelled by the vendor due to weather or other factors ... in which case you are refunded in full). Due to our incredible climate here, weather cancellations are rare.  No-shows and cancellations without adequate notice are charged in full on the credit card used to secure the reservation and are non-refundable.
